 Drumstick Cutlet

Drumsticks are rich in Calcium, Iron and Vitamins to improve bone health. It is also called as Super Plant because of its high therapeutic value, and used in Ayurveda. Drumsticks, a blood purifier is known to control blood sugar and improve heart health when consumed on a regular basis.

There are lots of recipes that can be made using drumsticks. Drumstick cutlet is a kid friendly recipe and a dish which we love to munch as evening snack with tea/coffee. Introduce drumstick in any form you can think of and reap the benefits out of it.

Ingredients

for Drumstick Cutlet 
  • 10 nos Drumstick
  • 4 nos Potato
  • 2 nos Onion
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • ½ tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 1 ” Cinnamon
  • 1 Clove
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • ½ tsp Pepper Powder
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • For Coating
  • 1 Egg (or Corn flour)
  • 1½ Cup Bread Crumbs
 
Instructions for preparing Drumstick Cutlet 
  1. Clean and chop drumsticks into long pieces. Add ½ cup water and boil it covered for about 10 min till its cooked.
  2. Pressure cook potato for about 2 whistles till its fully cooked. When cooled down, peel the skin off and smash it. Keep it aside.
  3. When drumsticks are cooled, make an incision, open the drumsticks and scrape the pulp off the skin using a spoon.
  4. Transfer to a bowl.
  5. Crush ½ tsp fennel seeds, 1″ cinnamon, 1 clove to a fine powder.
  6. In a pan add oil, onions, finely chopped green chilli and saute for 2-3 min.
  7. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till onions are cooked brown.
  8. When onions are cooked, add crushed spice powders, turmeric powder, pepper powder and salt. Saute for 2-3 min.
  9. Add drumstick pulp and smashed potatoes. Mix properly
  10. Add coriander leaves. Switch off the flame and let it cool.
  11. Take a small portion of dough and shape it into flat balls.
  12. Take one beaten egg (or else corn flour dissolved in water) in a bowl and bread crumbs in another.
  13. Dip cutlet into beaten egg first.
  14. Next coat it evenly with bread crumbs.
  15. Keep in refrigerator for about 20-30 min for it to set properly.
  16. ou can either shallow fry or deep fry it. For shallow frying, add some oil and place the cutlet in it. Drizzle some oil on top of it.
  17. Flip it over and add some more oil. Let it get done evenly in medium flame.
  18. Serve it hot. Enjoy as an appetizer or as an evening snack.
