Murungai keerai soup

Murungai keerai soup/Moringa leaves soup is a comfort soup. This soup a simple soup made with drumstick leaves.  Murungai keerai soup is sure to satisfy a craving on a cool day or boost your strength when battling an llness. Drumstick leaves which is commonly known as Moringa leaves/Murungai keerai has a lot of medicinal benefits, rich in iron and protein, very good for your eyes too.

Ingredients

  • For Making Murungai keerai soup : 
  • 1 and 1/2 cups drumstick leaves
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 1 tbsp crushed garlic
  • 6 small onion finely sliced
  • 1 small tomato chopped roughly
  • 2 cups water
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp oil
 

Instructions

  • For Making Murungai keerai soup : 
  1. Pluck the drumstick leaves from the stem and set aside.
  2. If the leaves are tender then the tiny stems can be added too.
  3. Rinse it well twice and drain water. Set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan – add jeera let it crackle, add crushed garlic.
  5. Saute for a min, then add onion and required salt.
  6. Saute till golden then add tomato, saute till tomatoes turn mushy and raw smell leaves.
  7. Now add cleaned drumstick leaves. 
  8. Saute for 2 to 3 mins until the raw smell leaves.
  9. Transferred the mixture to a sauce pan.
  10. Add water and let it boil for a good 5 mins.
  11. When its boiling add little more salt(if needed) and pepper. 
  12. Cook for a minute and switch off.
